Half-centuries from Sam Billings and Ben Duckett helped England to a four-wicket win over Bangladesh in the third ODI to secure a 2-1 series win. Billings made 62 and Duckett 63 as Englands batsmen showed their class throughout, chasing down 277 to condemn Bangladesh to their first defeat in a home ODI series since 2014. Nick Knight speaks with Adil Rashid, Ben Stokes, Mashrafe Mortaza and Jos Buttler during the presentation Adil Rashid had been the pick of the England bowlers, taking 4-43, as Bangladesh reached 277-6 in their 50 overs to leave England with what appeared to be an extremely challenging chase on a spinning wicket.England proved to be more than up for that challenge though, helped by slightly improved batting conditions, and Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes got them over the line with 13 balls to spare.Jos Buttler earlier won the toss for the third match in succession and promptly invited Bangladesh to have a bat. The hosts got off to a good start with Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes taking advantage as the England bowlers too often looked to bang the ball in short on a pitch lacking in any real pace. The result was opening stand of 80, Bangladeshs best against England in an ODI, before Ben Stokes (1-24) made the breakthrough. It all looked rather too easy as Kayes (46) flicked a harmless enough delivery straight to substitute fielder Liam Dawson at square leg.Tamim (45), having gone past 5,000 ODI runs earlier in his knock, was the next to go, Rashid deceiving him with a dragged-down googly; James Vince the fielder on hand to take the catch at cover. While the ball was spinning viciously, it was another long-hop that brought Rashid his second wicket. He teased Mahmudullah with three beautiful leg-spinners before appearing to let him off the hook with a horrible short ball that was launched over the long on for six. Adil Rashid was the pick of the England bowlers, taking 4-43 However, rather than repeat the shot when the next ball was dragged down, Mahmudullah (6) thumped it straight to Jonny Bairstow at short extra cover.Sabbir Rahman (49) remained and was batting positively - sharing a 54-run partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim - before he was undone by a beauty from Rashid; the leggie getting it to drift in slightly, spin sharply away and take a feint nick through to Buttler. Trevor Bayliss told Nasser Hussain that he believes the future of English white-ball cricket is looking bright Shakib Al Hasan (4) was the next to go, stumped off the bowling of Moeen Ali (1-42), although there was more than a hint of fortune as the ball bounced out of Buttlers gloves and onto the stumps with the batsman out of his crease.Rashid then took his final wicket - a full toss that was hit to midwicket by Nasir Hossain (4), Vince taking the catch above his head.Mushfiqur remained and after being dropped by Stokes on 46, he smashed the next ball for six to bring up his half-century - the first time he had passed 50 in 21 international innings. Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored for Bangladesh with 67 not out He was not done there, finishing unbeaten on 67, having put on 85 with Mosaddek Hossain (38no) for the seventh wicket as Bangladesh posted a highly-competitive 277-6.Englands reply got off to a steady start with an injury to Jason Roy seeing the tourists put out a new opening pairing of James Vince and Billings.Billings, playing only his sixth ODI innings, looked positive from the start; working the ball effortlessly into the legside and picking up his first boundary with a drive through extra cover.Vince (32) also looked in decent nick before he was trapped lbw by Nasir as moved across his stumps and looked to play with the spin. That brought Ben Duckett to the crease and he joined forces with Billings to consolidate Englands solid start.Billings was going well, sweeping and reversing sweeping with authority, while Duckett, having struggled to pierce the infield early on, got himself moving with a six over midwicket. Ben Duckett hit his second fifty of the series in Chittagong The reward for Billings came as he reached his maiden ODI fifty in the 19th over but he was aghast to top-edge a sweep shot off Mosaddek straight to the man in the deep not long afterwards.Duckett followed Billings to fifty, his second of the series, in the 30th over as England continued to tick along nicely. However, when Bairstow (15) was bowled by Shafiul Islam playing a wild hack across the line and Duckett was brilliantly caught by Mushfiqur down the legside attempting a ramp shot off the same bowler, England were wobbling slightly at 179-4.With 99 still needed to win, Buttler joined Stokes in the middle and the pair showed all their experience as they coolly move England to within sight of victory. England lift the series trophy after winning the 3rd One Day International match in Chittagong A setback came in the 41st over as Buttler (25) dragged on to Mashrafe Mortaza. The Bangladesh celebrations were rather more muted than in the second ODI but the wicket of the England skipper did ensure their chances of victory remained very much alive. The home fans disagreed and continued to head for the exits in their droves but they could have been forgiven for trying to get back in as Moeen Ali (1) chipped Mortaza to mid-on with England still 42 shy of their victory target. Watch Chris Woakes smash the winning runs over long off to help England claim a 2-1 series win over Bangladesh Stokes and Chris Woakes whittled that down to 21 from as many balls before, having driven gloriously through the covers for four the previous ball, Woakes edge Taskin Ahmed to first slip, only for Kayes to juggle and, ultimately, shell the catch. The error was then compounded as Woakes powered another drive away for four, to leave England needing 17 from the final three overs.Stokes proceeded to thump the first ball of the 48th over back over Shafiuls head for six and from there the result looked a mere formality and Woakes finished it off with another straight six from the penultimate ball of the same over. You can watch Liverpool v Man Utd in the Premier League, plus Englands tour of Bangladesh and the British Masters on Sky Sports.
