(SportsNetwork.com) - After failing to win consecutive games for the first time in a month, the Boston Bruins now try to avoid an eighth loss in 10 December games on Sunday evening when they take on the Buffalo Sabres. The Bruins snapped a three-game slide with an overtime victory at Minnesota on Tuesday, but capped a three-game swing the following night with a 2-1 setback to the Winnipeg Jets. Defenseman Torey Krug scored the only goal of the game for the Bruins and Tuukka Rask allowed both goals on 27 shots. Weve talked about keeping things going and getting in a groove by getting a win tonight, but we didnt, said Rask. The Bruins were hoping for their first winning streak since a three-game run from Nov. 15-21, but instead fell to 3-6-3 since that time. They also have been held to three goals or fewer 10 times in that 12-game span. Scoring goals, thats whats missing right now, Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara said on his teams website. You know, its one of those things that we need to I guess, a little bit of luck, maybe a bounce here or there. Hosting the Sabres could help. The Bruins have won three in a row in this matchup, including the first two meetings this season that both took place in Buffalo. They have won two straight and five of the past seven meetings in Boston. Rask is 6-5-1 in his career versus the Sabres with a 2.44 goals against average and .923 save percentage in 14 career encounters, all but one of those starts. The Sabres come into Boston at less than full strength, battling both illness and injury. Matt Moulson was a scratch in Saturdays 5-1 setback to the Colorado Avalanche due to flu-like symptoms, while fellow forward Patrick Kaleta was unable to finish the game because of feeling sick. Buffalo also lost defenseman Tyler Myers to a lower-body injury in the second period and he is questionable for tonights game. As a result, the Sabres had a six-game winning streak at home snapped and have been outscored 10-2 in back-to-back losses following a four-game overall winning streak. Johan Larsson had a third-period goal for his first career NHL tally. He was recalled late in the day from the American Hockey League to replace Moulson and didnt even get to the arena in time for warmups. He had to rush here. Under those circumstances, he played well, plus he scored his first (NHL) goal, said Sabres coach Ted Nolan. Jhonas Enroth stopped 18-of-22 shots for Buffalo, which will try to win for the first time in its past four on the road tonight. Michal Neuvirth could start this game for the Sabres and is 1-3-0 lifetime versus the Bruins with a 3.66 GAA and .861 save percentage in six meetings, including four starts. Josh Hader Jersey . According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, it doesnt appear the offer was warmly received by the team. Blue Jackets director of hockey operations John Davidson and general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said on Wednesday the team has made offers of $6 million for two years, $32 million for six and $46 million over eight years but each one was refused by the restricted free agent centre and agent Kurt Overhardt. The Jaguars (2-10) scored a pair of defensive touchdowns in the second half to rally from a 21-0 deficit, ending a four-game slide while sending the Giants (3-9) to their seventh straight loss. Blake Bortles helped the comeback, throwing for 194 yards with a touchdown. He also rushed for a team-high 68 yards on five carries, including a 20-yard run that set up Scobees go-ahead kick. Josh Brown kicked a 33-yard field goal to give the Giants a 24-22 lead with 3:26 remaining, ending a string of 22 straight Jacksonville points, but the Jaguars would not be denied. Jacksonville overcame a pair of penalties and marched 55 yards to reach field goal range for Scobee, who easily split the uprights to put the Jaguars back on top. Bortles keyed the drive with a pair of big plays. He followed a false start penalty with a 22-yard pass to Marqise Lee and later followed a holding call with his 20-yard run to the New York 20-yard line. The Jaguars defense then sealed it on the first play after the kickoff when Eli Manning fumbled while being sacked and Chris Clemons recovered. Hard fought game. Great game to be a part of, said Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley. When you look at our team, Im really excited about what we accomplished. Manning threw for 247 yards with a touchdown and Rashad Jennings ran for 91 yards with a pair of scores for New York, which hasnt won since a 30-20 triumph against Atlanta on Oct. 5. They did a good job in the second half, said Manning. We knew they were a talented front four that can get pressure without having to blitz. The Giants seven-game skid is their longest since an eight-game slide in 2004, Tom Coughlins first season as head coach. Coughlins job security has been a question during the teams struggles this year. Very disappointing, discouraging, Coughlin said. We came down here feeling like we could win ... and nothing happened on game day. It was anything but a struggle early for the Giants, who scored on three straight possessions while the Jaguars failed to produce anything offensively. New York opened the scoring on its second series, marching 91 yards on 19 plays in just under 10 minutes. Jennings carried the ball 12 times forr 48 yards during the trek, finishing it with a 2-yard run on the first play of the second quarter.dddddddddddd After Jacksonville went three-and-out for the second time, the Giants took over at their own 46 and needed six plays to again find the end zone. Manning keyed the set with a 32-yard pass to tight end Larry Donnell and finished it with a 3-yard strike to Preston Parker. The Jaguars again failed to pick up a first down and the Giants drove 63 yards for another touchdown. A 29-yard pass from Manning to Odell Beckham Jr. ignited the series and Jennings capped it with a 17-yard touchdown run for a seemingly comfortable 21-0 advantage. Jacksonville finally mounted a threat after picking up its initial first down with less than six minutes remaining in the first half. The Jaguars drove to the New York 5-yard line and had a Bortles touchdown pass negated by a holding penalty before settling for a 28-yard Scobee field goal. A Jaguars punt pinned the Giants inside their own 5-yard line early in the third quarter and the Jacksonville defense picked up its first score of the day just two plays later when Manning was sacked and fumbled. J.T. Thomas recovered in the end zone to make it a 21-10 game. After a trade of punts, Brown missed a 43-yard field goal try for the Giants and the Jaguars answered with a 67-yard drive that Bortles finished with a 30- yard TD pass to Lee. The two-point try failed, leaving the Jaguars down 21-16 with 1:55 left in the third quarter. The Giants then gave the Jaguars the lead just over two minutes into the fourth. Donnell fumbled after a reception and Aaron Colvin raced 41 yards the other way for the score. Again, the two-point try failed and Jacksonvilles edge was just 22-21.
